When saving a skin to ".dds", which dds Nvidia settings are you using?

Due to the problems we had at the previous multiclass race with some of the skins not being seen, I'd like to do some testing.

My skin for the new season has three .dds files in it, compressed into a .mas file with normal compression

1. dm47EveF1alt.dds - 2048x2048 in DXT5 with mipmaps (12) for 5462kb
2. dm47EveF1altExtra1.dds - 1024x1024 in DXT5 with mipmaps(11) for 1366kb
3 dm47EveF1altHELMEt.dds - 1024x512 in DXT3 with mipmaps(11) for 863kb

since it is compressed into a .mas file it is only 3554kb. All skins should be so compressed. It makes them much easier to up/down load and take less space on the server.

How do you compress them, zip,rar and then rename it to .mas? or is there a specific "mas" compresor?

Absolutely not!
rFactor2 includes a .mas compressor in the /support/tools directory call MAS2.exe. That is what I use.

All of the vehicles are made of a few .mas files. The utility allows the user to look at and extract components of the car, and also allows the user to create their own .mas files. I use "standard" compression.

Gorka just go into your RF2 installation.
Inside Support(I think)/Tools you will find the MAS utility.
Open it and drag and drop .dds file/s and it will compress it/them to a much smaller .mas file that works as .dds

No, but I do have a story about my EXTRA1 file. When working on the paint for my Matra, there was one part that stayed default #14 blue no matter what I did. It did not show on the showroom view, only when driving on the track. It was a piece under the engine - like an extension of the tub. So I did a little research.

Here is the Matra file list as installed:

Paintjobs for the default cars are in EVE_MATRA_TEAM.mas. Using the MAS utility -

Nothing unusual there. So I looked at EVE_MATRA.mas

There it is! So I extracted the .dds file and changed the blue part to the same base color as my car.

Voila - Robert's your mother's brother!

I can make a template if you want one.

I tried the helmet template DjC published back in 2014 for the BT20 but it seems not to be the same the actual BT20 is requiring (things not in place).
